Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology for Internet of Things

The potential of Blockchain technology to establish trust among individuals and machines, increase resource utilization, and reduce costs presents an opportunity to create new foundations for our socio-economic systems. Its secure design for distributed computing systems, offering high fault tolerance, has garnered worldwide attention. Blockchain is poised to play a crucial role in securing decentralization for emerging fields such as edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Physical Systems, social networking, crowdsourcing, and next-gen wireless communication, amongst others. Consequently, blockchain technology will significantly disrupt the operation and management of digital and networking systems, including IoT.

However, the application of blockchain technology presents complex problems and new requirements, with open issues and challenges on scalability, security, privacy, efficiency, flexibility, availability, real decentralization and high reliability of things are crucial to advance its further evolution. The aim of the proposed special session is to gather, disseminate and investigate cutting-edge research contributions, inventive techniques, novel applications, and advanced methodologies that address various aspects of blockchain and distributed ledger technology, especially for accelerating intelligent applications of things.
